Phone lockup
Just purchased and installed DoggCatcher yesterday. Very nice player. However, sometime over last night, it locked up the phone. The green led was blinking still, but no button presses brought the phone back.
The phone is a Moto Droid 2.0.1. If this happens again, is there a means to get debugging info? I had to pull the battery out and replace to get the phone back. The logs generated by the app were from the new boot time, no history seemed to be there.
Thanks
If there's something that's freezing the phone, it's pretty likely that there's a problem with a device driver. If you google 'droid freeze', you'll notice quite a few other reports similar to what you are seeing. I had my g1 do that a couple time very early on...maybe on android 1.1. I've since been using the g1, cliq, and nexus one and never had the phone freeze on me.
DC may be downloading at the time a driver hangs up, but I don't think it is the cause of the hang.
If this keeps on happening, I would be happy to issue a refund, because I don't want you to pay for something that you can't use. I just can't think of anything that I could do to try to diagnose the problem.
It is very rare, so if it increases in frequency, I'll let you know. I have enabled wifi ON while on power source, so that hopefully takes care of any wifi swap to 3G that might be occurring while downloads happen. That just seems like a tricky thing in the OS land to get 100% right.
Thanks
One other user reported something similar a few months back but we never got to the bottom of it. Unfortunately, the logs are reset when the device boots. It's going to be really tough trying to figure that out with a log. We could narrow it down a bit by maybe setting the feed updates to never to see it it's related to that...or possibly disabling the download on power/download on wifi options. Those are the only things that would seem to be in play when the device is sleeping. If we can't figure it out, I would be happy to issue a refund. Sorry I can't be more help with this one.

So, I just got home tonight. The phone had accumulated about 5 things to download. I have it checking every 6 hours, and only downloading when on a power source(wifi box unchecked). So when I got home, the top of the queue was TWIT. It started downloading after I plugged it in. I needed to head outside for something, so I grabbed the phone and unplugged it. I THINK it was still responsive, because I THINK I felt a vibration(like when you start to slide but not finish, the initial buzz). about 30 seconds later, I attempted to unlock the phone, and the top button would not light the screen or the home row buttons.
The only other variable I think might be useful was when I pulled in, the app was playing, I paused it, and plugged it in. So the podcast was in the middle of playback. Really doubt its relevant, as the podcast was "this week in google", not twit.
