Pause on phone call or "beep" from incoming email? or directions from GPS

Is there a way to pause the podcast if a phone call comes in, GPS talks or a beep from incoming email? It is sort of annoying because I have to rewind in the car. I know the iPhone does this but is it a limitation with the Android OS?

I see your point
I don't know if it's possible or not to detect when another app is playing audio but I'll take a look.

Temporary pause
Karolis and I cleared this up via e-mail. I misunderstood, I thought he was seeing a permanent pause triggered by the notification, but he gets a temporary pause while the notification is playing.

My G1 pauses the podcast when
My G1 pauses the podcast when and e-mail or calendar alert rings. But it's not something I want, I'd rather not have it behave that way :)

Pausing
It does pause when a call comes in. I'm able able to do this because I can register for an alert when this occurs.
I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to be notified when audio is playing so I don't think I'm going to be able to do anything there. If I see anything new with the android sdk in this area, I'll take a look.

perhaps you've already put this one to bed, but I'll cast a 2nd vote anyway .... and for navigation especially. I was using the Droid's navigation today while listening to a podcast. Each announcement from the navigation is 6-10 seconds long, and I kept missing content from the 'cast as a result.
If there's anyway to subscribe to those events and pause when the occur, then that'd be awesome.
